My life has changed so much here and a lot is different to Germany. After mu first weeks I was totally involved in the football team of my high school and it was a total blast. I had about 70 yards in my second game and I always kept improving as a player. I scored two point conversions and even my first touchdown in this season! It was an awesome feeling that I will never forget. The rest of the season was amazing and my team von the Conference Championship in the end.🏆

In school everything worked out how I imagined it. I found a lot of friends and had always someone to talk to in class or in the hallway. All the classes are way more relaxed and more personal than the ones in Germany and the relationship between teachers and students is a lot more personal. I actually like school here because it’s not really hard besides the classes that are on college level so I’m comfortable with them.

One of the most important weeks in American schools is homecoming. It is just a week full of games and competitions between all the grades. Every day was shortened and activities were planned. The girls played football against each other and the boys played Volleyball, the winning class takes home points which were counted up in the end to know which class is the best. Sadly the Juniors, the class I am in, didn’t win… It was the Seniors but there was a lot of controversy about the judging of some competitions.

Thanksgiving was the first typical American holiday I have experienced here and it was very cool. We had a “Turkey Bowl” football game with family and friends, it was a lot of fun since it was just for fun and I already really enjoyed football. On Thanksgiving dinner we had turkey with mashed potatoes, ham, stuffing and gravy. It was delicious and surely a true thanksgiving meal. the rest of the weekend we hung out with the family of my host mother’s side and made a hard puzzle as well.

Basketball season has begun now as well and the tryouts went very well for me. I was placed on the Junior Varsity team which was exactly what I expected from me. I have been improving a lot since practice started in November and our first game is on December 1st at home.
